Safety cash for shoppers’ safety

The Government has announced that it will give Mendip District Council £102,863 to help the recovery of local High Streets.

The money is intended to go towards the introduction of safety measures once shops reopen.

These can include new temporary signs, street markings and barriers aimed at ensuring safe distancing in shopping centres across the district, as well as a marketing campaign.

The money for Mendip is part of a £50 million pot announced yesterday by High Streets Minister Simon Clarke.
