Wells Health Centre and Wells City Practice have each had to change the way appointments are run in response to the recent developments in the spread of the Covid-19 virus. The changes at both practices have been carefully considered with a view to keeping our patients and the staff at both surgeries as safe and healthy as possible. Both practices are trying to minimise the risks associated with the virus whilst continuing to provide a service to meet our patients’ needs.
Wells Health Centre
We will no longer be booking face to face appointments for the foreseeable future. For all appointments currently booked, we will be calling you instead; please do not come into the surgery. The purpose of the call will be to decide what action is required and to determine how best to progress those actions; you may still be invited to come into the surgery if necessary. For all future appointments, you will be booked a telephone call instead of a face to face appointment in the surgery. Again, during this call, the clinician will discuss your concerns with you and decide upon the best course of action to take. Reception can be reached on 01749 672137.
In this rapidly changing situation, the advice we offer is likely to change so for the most up to date advice we recommend looking at NHS.uk. Please view the Wells Health Centre website where we will be listing any specific local arrangements about the management of the surgery.
Wells City Practice
For all appointments currently booked with a GP, we will be contacting you to arrange a ‘phone call instead. Face to face consultations will be avoided as far as possible to minimise spread of the virus and in particular, to protect our older and more vulnerable patients and will only be arranged if the doctor decides it is needed. Otherwise, we hope to provide the best care possible by use of ‘phone consultation and where possible and useful, video consultation from your mobile phone to our computer.
If you need to speak to a GP, please phone reception as normal on 01749 601333. If your problem is urgent, a ‘phone call with the duty doctor will be arranged. If not urgent, a ‘phone call will be arranged with one of the other doctors.
Please attend childhood immunisation appointments as planned. If you require blood tests, injections, other immunisations or other procedures, please ‘phone reception and a ‘phone call with a GP will be arranged to discuss what is needed.

Please do not come into the practice to request a prescription. Please either use your Patient Access account, send us an email or use the letterbox outside on the left hand side by the sliding doors. We appreciate your cooperation.
Please indicate which chemist you would like to collect your medication from, if there is no chemist indicated we will send it to Boots pharmacy at the Priory site.
